scavenged elk
Remnants of a scavenged elk, seen while snowshoeing in Yellowstone National Park.
There was only the small patch of fur left on the top, otherwise scavengers had picked it completely clean.
The lower piece of the skull was nearby, but we didn't see any other bits of the elk.

(Can't help but ask - were you very hungry when you found the elk?)
Yellowstone is a magical place. My Steven was born there and spent his first 15 summers with his family there while his dad was a ranger. I've only been once but can't wait to go back. You guys sure do a lot of fun stuff.
